Payroll Manager

Our client, a values-driven construction and general contracting firm focusing on projects that create meaningful, transformative change, is looking for a dynamic and passionate Payroll Manager.

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for preparing and processing weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. Experience with union labor payroll is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting and reviewing weekly employee timesheet data for correct coding
  • Entering employee data and payroll codes/rates into payroll/accounting software and administrative databases
  • Enter and generate payroll for multiple states, multiple unions, federal contracts for approximately 150-200 employees
  • Prepare and process all payroll deductions, taxes, fringe benefits, and expenses
  • Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Maintaining employee records of vacation, sick time, reimbursables, and per diems
  • Responding to payroll-related inquiries
  • Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management. i.e. 401k reports, salary tracker report, etc.
  • Uploading Union benefits to appropriate portals
  • Processing Certified Payroll Reports
  • Assist with processing new employee onboarding paperwork and payroll setup
  • Provide support for various administrative functions (i.e. paper and electronic filing, misc. employee support regarding payroll questions, employee onboarding, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with Union agreements, accurate payroll processing with the multiple pay rates and classifications, deductions and contributions
  • Collaborate with other home office departments to assist in payroll related matters

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the Construction Industry
  • Experience with construction payroll software such as Sage, Foundation, etc.
  • Experience with Davis Bacon-Prevailing wage or Union required projects
  • Experience with federal construction projects
  • Experience with multi-union labor payroll and understanding of union agreements.
  • Knowledge of with Multi-State Payroll
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to process and manage payroll in a confidential manner
  • Self-motivator with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and under tight deadlines.
